My Approach
I am an HCPC-accredited Counselling Psychologist with over a decade’s experience working across various NHS settings as well as in both the private and charitable sector, where I also work as the Psychology Lead of a service working to support young people and their parents.
As a Counselling Psychologist I have been trained in a range of therapeutic modalities, including Psychodynamic approaches, Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – as well as third wave approaches such as Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy. I am also EMDR trained. I work integratively, prioritising the therapeutic relationship and drawing upon different psychological intervention, depending on what is needed by the client and staying rooted in the evidence-base, in order to help them feel safe, contained and helped in the here and now.
My approach has been described as warm and thoughtful and I aim to offer really good quality therapy, meeting clients of all ages wherever they are at to think about what they want and need to feel less stuck, to heal and to thrive. I have extensive experience working with many, often co-occuring difficulties, including anxiety, panic, low mood and depression, trauma of all kinds - from complex and relational to PTSD, OCD and intrusive thoughts, disordered eating, women’s health, parenting adolescents, loss and bereavement and relationship difficulties.
I see the value of therapy as a place to respond to distress which may be making the everyday feel difficult as well as a more reflective space to make sense of why things might feel stuck at a particular stage of life or within certain relationships.
I work sensitively and inclusively with diversity. My practice is culturally sensitive, neuro-affirmative and LGBTQ+ inclusive.
